This regional conference will give us an opportunity to share the experiences of NUDIPU (National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda) and persons with HIV and AIDS from a three years pilot project (2006-2009) that has been implemented in three districts of Soroti, Gulu and Masaka,’ said Minister Madada Madada boasted that the NRM government leadership has been known the world all over for fighting HIV and AIDS and other disadvantaged persons. ‘We have developed a policy on disabilities (2005) and an act of Parliament on disabilities (2006) thus creating a legal framework that can guide government and all development partners on how to concretely address issues related to physical disabilities and needs in an appropriate manner,’ Madada said.
The conference will be attended by participants from Ethiopia, Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Zambia among others.
