Addis Ababa, Khartoum sign Annual Action Plan

Addis-Ababa(CakaraNews).Addis Ababa and Khartoum on Tuesday signed Annual Action Plan to further strengthen sister city partnership.
Mayor's Office and Cabinet Affairs Head with the Addis Ababa City Administration, Motuma Mekasa and Minister of Planning and Physical Development of Khartoum State, Al-Rasheed Osman Faqiri signed the action plan, which will be implemented until November 2012.
The two parties agreed to further strengthen Ethio-Sudan relations, enhance people-to people ties, promote culture and tourism, scale up cooperation of industry and trade councils as well as exchange experiences.
Addis Ababa and Khartoum had signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish sister city partnership on December 25, 2010.
External Relations Head with the Mayor's Office, Almaz Mekonnen told journalists that trade fairs will be organized in Addis Ababa and Khartoum in connection with the 125th founding anniversary of Addis Ababa as part of implementation of the action plan.
Almaz said a cultural group from Khartoum will also stage cultural performance in Addis Ababa in connection with the anniversary, she said.
The relations in the political, economic and social affairs between the two sister cities will help to further strengthen people-to people relations.
Al-Rasheed Osman Faqiri for his part expressed readiness of Khartoum to share experiences with Addis Ababa with a view to creating strong people-to people relations between the two sister cities.
The Minister said Khartoum is desirous to draw experiences from Addis Ababa in housing development, decentralized administration and chambers of commerce.
During its stay in Addis, the five-member Sudanese delegation led by Al-Rasheed Osman Faqiri would visit condominium houses, road projects, micro and small-scale enterprises as well as historical sites.
