9th African Fine Coffee Conference, Exhibition opens in Ethiopia

Addis-Ababa(CakaraNews).The 9th edition of the African Fine Coffee Conference and Exhibition organized by the Eastern African Fine Coffees Association (EAFCA) was opened on Thursday in Addis Ababa. The conference and the exhibition would provide delegates an opportunity to experience Ethiopia’s vast coffee varieties, it was noted. The event is also expected to play a significant role in building positive image of Ethiopia as well as promoting knowledge exchange and creating market connections. In his opening speech to the conference, President Girma Woldegiorgis said the government of Ethiopia has attached due attention to the quality and quantity production of coffee, adding necessary support is being extended to coffee market. Ethiopia’s Minister of Trade, Kebede Chane for his part said the conference mainly aims at promoting African, particularly East African coffee and providing competitive coffee product to the international market. He said the conference has a unique significance to Ethiopia as well as Africa in creating market ties. Ethiopian Coffee Roasters Association President, Minilik Habtom said he has drawn a lesson from the exhibition on the importance of value addition to coffee export. More than 1200 coffee exporters and representatives drawn from various countries are taking part in the three-day conference.
