Jigjiga, 9 December 2013 (WIC) – The Ministry of Culture and Tourism said celebration of Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day would have a significant contribution for the growth of Ethiopia’s tourism industry. Ethiopia marks Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day each year on December 8 to celebrate the day of the adoption of the Ethiopian Constitution.
The country observed Nations Nationalities and People’s Day yesterday for the 8th time in Jigjiga town, the seat of Ethiopian Somali Regional State, under the theme “Our Constitution for Our Renaissance.”
Culture and Tourism Minister, Amin Abdulkadir, said the event would create a good opportunity to promote cuisine and traditional clothing of nations and nationalities of Ethiopian to the rest of the world.
The celebration would also have a pivotal role to preserve heritages and pass on to the next generation as cultural centers are being constructed in various regional states in connection with the annual festival, he said.
This year’s celebration of Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day shows that all regional states have the capacity to successfully host the festivity.
It will also help Ethiopians know more about Ethiopian Somali people, he noted.
